As the team behind the former London Australian Film Festival, we’re uber-excited to be bringing two unmissable weekends of Australian cinema to our new home, the Picturehouse Cinemas, where we can promise a bravura selection of the best recent releases, docs, shorts and special events.
Festival highlights include Ryan Kwanten in this year’s Sydney Film Fest opener Not Suitable for Children, and UK premieres of 5 new features including a slick romantic comedy from Rob Sitch (The Dish) Any Questions for Ben?; multi award-winning drama, The Eye of the Storm starring Australian acting royalty Geoffrey Rush and Judy Davis and in our traditional The Dark Side of Down Under slot a sexy noir thriller Swerve from Craig Lahiff, starring the gorgeous Emma Booth (The Boys are Back).
FFA is honoured to welcome Geoffrey Rush and Noah Taylor as Festival Patrons.
Crowned Australian of the Year and star of FFA's The Eye of the Storm, Geoffrey Rush's onscreen accolades include his oscar winning performance in Shine, and his BAFTA winning role in The King's Speech. A consummate supporter of Australian cinema, much of Rush's work has been featured at the festival over the years including Bran Nue Dae, $9.99, Candy, Ned Kelly and Lantana.
With credits including John Hillcoat’s latest Lawless; The Year My Voice Broke; Shine; Flirting; He Died with a Falafel in his Hand; and 2011 festival opener Red Dog, he is a long-standing FFA supporter and a true Aussie acting legend.
We’re stoked to report that our Bondi beach based partners Flickerfest are back with us once more with their expert selection of short films. Australia’s premier short film festival, and the only one with Academy® accredited and BAFTA recognition celebrated its 21st birthday in 2012 by continuing to present the best new films from Australia and around the world!
